Our Department welcomed a visit from the Japanese QST

From December 9 to 12, 2024, a delegation from QST (National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology, Japan) visited the Department of Nuclear Chemistry at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. The delegation included Dr. Kotaro Nagatsu, Dr. Tatsuya Higashi, and Mr. Jun Ichinose. During their visit, joint interests in the fields of nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy were discussed, and mutual interest in future collaboration was expressed. The main topic of discussions was the preparation of the isotope 225Ac, a significant medical radionuclide used in advanced cancer therapy.
This contact was established through the efforts of the IAEA to support research, development, and international cooperation in nuclear sciences and their applications, in which Associate Professor Kozempel from the Department of Nuclear Chemistry at the Czech Technical University in Prague has been actively involved.

International cooperation in superheavy elements research

As part of research focused on the study of the chemistry of superheavy elements and their homologues, the staff of the Department of Nuclear Chemistry (KJCH) of the CTU in Prague organized this year’s second international experimental campaign on the cyclotron U-120M (IJF, CAS) in Řež near Prague, where they deepened their cooperation with the University of Oslo (UiO), Norway, Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), Germany, and the GSI Darmstadt research institute (GSI), Germany. Representatives from all of these institutes met at the U-120M cyclotron laboratory during the November campaign.
